Illegal- Paparazzi and Celebrity

Scene: In children’s playground surrounded by families having a pick nick, children playing hide and seek, a playground surrounded by red rails and a bright blue gate. Inside the red rail is; swings, slides, woodchip flooring with a seesaw, monkey bars a climbing frame and a small castle. A celebrity enters holding his son who is aged around 5. They head to the climbing frame where the celeb plays with his son. The paparazzi are hidden within the trees waiting for a good picture of the famous man with his son. The celeb and his son are both wearing branded clothes and are dressed in a casual t-shirt, jeans and wearing trainers

Tony: Hey little man bet you can’t catch me?! (He said to his son in a playful tone)

Boy: Bet I can! (He chases his dad to the edge of the red rails by the gate)

Tony: (He turns round and his hand accidentally hits the boy) OMG are you alright little man? (Worried look in his eye, hugs his son)

(Paparazzi behind the tree takes pictures of the incident on his camera)

Tony:  (Boy is still crying) How about some ice cream?? (Boy nods yes) (Dries the boys eyes and gives him a shoulder carry to the ice cream van)

The next day

Scene: We are at the celebs house which is surrounded by paparazzi just as normal. The celeb is making breakfast for his wife and son when a glass smashes as his wife is reading a magazine. She has Golden blond hair, dresses in upper class clothes and make-up heavily applied. The boy is wearing his pyjamas and slippers. The celeb is dressed casual and wearing slippers.

Wife: Tony you have to come and see this… (Passing her husband the magazine) (She sounds worried and looks shocked)

 Tony: (Reading aloud) “Celeb Tony is caught hitting his child in local playground…” This is…

Wife: Tony not in front of our son. (Looking at the little boy) You need to ring the magazine and explain that it’s illegal for them to write this as there is no facts. If they challenge you then I will defend you, marrying a lawyer really helps in these situations. (Smiles in reassurance to her husband)

Tony: (Smiles) Thanks (to wife), what would I do without your mummy hay?! (To the boy with a smile)

The moral: It’s illegal to take an image and publish it without saying eg “CLAIMS say…”

Ethical

Ethical- Photographer and Model

Scene: In a photography studio with lights and cameras surrounding a white curtain. Two main characters, 1 male photographer and 1 female model.

Model has little black dress with red shoes and a red belt, heavy make-up and blond hair.

Photographer is wearing a smart shirt 3 buttons open with plain t-shirt underneath with jeans and black shoes, brown spiked hair.

Three helpers dressed casually.

The photographer has just finished his photo shoot on the model and is now editing the pictures on his laptop in the corner of the room. The set is being tidied up and the model is ready to leave with her coat on and handbag on her arm.

The model walks over to say goodbye to the photographer.

Model: I’m on my way … What are you doing!

(The model gradually gets closer to the photographer before stopping right behind him looking over his shoulder)

Photographer: (Model turns around on his swivel chair) Im just adding the finishing touches to the photos. Are you off home now? (Model is relaxed)

Model: Why are you editing my photos, they look amazing. (Sounds confused and a little bit angry)

Photographer: Model, they are my images. (Stands up) By law the photos belong to the person who took them, in this case that would be me. I need to edit them before sending them to the magazine so they stand out as being the best. (Sounding calm and professional)

Model: I thought you were going to submit them to the magazine as they are. Do you have to edit them? I do have some rights after all it is me in the photos! (Getting angrier and trying to sound like she knows what she is talking about)

Photographer: Actually you have no rights. I pay you for your time and I get on with my job.(Sits down)  As long as I have the symbol saying I have edited the image I can do what I like to the photo.  (Turns back round to his laptop and continues to edit the photos)

Model: (Realises she has no idea on the rights) Ohh, sorry, I didn’t realise. Im off home now, I will see you tomorrow. (She walks away determined to find out the laws on editing a person’s photo)

The moral: It’s not illegal to edit a photo as long as you put the correct symbol on the image before selling the image.
